The Ipswich Town head coach wants to step down due to…

The 37-year-old’s team defeated Swansea 2-1 on Saturday, moving them to within three points of the championship’s automatic promotion spots. On Monday, Palace will visit Goodison Park in the hopes of winning a game that will change the game.

According to Mail Sport, 76-year-old Hodgson’s second spell at Palace will end prematurely soon as management starts looking for a long-term replacement who can help the team escape the Premier League’s relegation zone and set them up for future success.

In his first managerial season, McKenna guided Ipswich to the Championship last year. He has since maintained his impressive form as they aim to join the Premier League the following season, vying with Southampton and Leeds for the second automatic promotion spot while Leicester leads the league by a wide margin.

The Northern Irishman, who left to take Paul Cook’s position as Ipswich head coach in 2021 after serving as a coach under Jose Mourinho and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Old Trafford, feels he is now prepared for a leading role in the English Premier League.

When asked if he was a suitable fit for the Palace position, McKenna gave a thoughtful response, saying, “I think there’s really good management at every level.”

“I know the level, have operated at that level, can work with players at that level, and believe I can help players and teams at that level,” said the first-team coach, who helped several major wins and successful seasons in the Premier League.

“I believe that is where I want to work and have an impact on my career in the end, but I believe there are other coaches in the chain who can do that as well.”

He continued, “I am loving my job here; this is a great football club and a great group to work with. Right now, the focus is on that, and we are enjoying the really good season.”

Along with Steve Cooper and Julen Lopetegui, Oliver Glasner, a former manager of Eintracht Frankfurt, is also a contender to succeed Hodgson.

Hodgson missed his pre-match news conference on Friday, the day before he was scheduled to be questioned about his future at Selhurst Park. He had been taken ill after a morning training session and was sent to the hospital for examinations.

Before deciding on his football career, the former England manager is consulting a physician; however, it is anticipated that he will resign from his position at Crystal Palace.
