According to an ESPN source, Kyrie Irving, a star player for the Brooklyn Nets, has informed the team that he wants to be traded before Thursday’s deadline.

Kyrie Irving of the Brooklyn Nets has asked to be traded, league sources tell @NBAonTNT and @BleacherReport. This follows the parties’ inability to agree on an extension.

“Kyrie Irving received a contract extension offer from the Nets, but it included some conditions. His side was reportedly fiercely opposed to any conditions in an extension. “@ShamsCharania delves into Kyrie Irving’s trade request #PMSLive pic.twitter.com/xBVFmM1jHA,” said the source.
Irving’s current contract, worth $36.9 million, is about to expire. A $200 million, four-year extension is available to him, and he can sign it in free agency or at any time during the season. Irving reportedly desired a deal to be completed before the season ended, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of NBA Today. He is available to signing with the Nets in free agency or during the season.

Shetellia Riley Irving, Irving’s stepmother and agent, informed Haynes a little over a week ago that although Irving desired to remain with the Nets, the team had not made a substantial offer.

Around Kyrie and continuing to play for the Nets? Regarding this, I have contacted the Nets,” Shetellia Irving said to Haynes. “So far, we haven’t had any meaningful conversations. The intention is to move to Brooklyn with the appropriate kind of extension, so the onus is now on the Nets to get in touch if they share the same desire.
