Head coach Seems Frighteningly Unwell in New Interview Ahead of Planned Players Return This Summer.

In a recent interview, the head coach appeared frighteningly ill before the players’ anticipated return this summer.

The indignation of New York Jets detractors may lessen. It turns out that head coach Robert Saleh isn’t blowing off the NFL Combine.

Saleh has reportedly had a change of heart following reports that he would be one of the increasing number of head coaches declining the chance to visit Indianapolis; a recent chat with general manager Joe Douglas appears to be the reason for this.

You might classify this as breaking news, I suppose. Robert and I often talk, we had a great conversation lately, and he will be here on Saturday because we have some great meetings and chances coming up. Douglas made the announcement during his planned media appearance in Indianapolis on Wednesday. “He’ll be here Saturday, Sunday,” he said.

In his fourth season as head coach, Saleh did not go to the 2023 NFL Combine, although he did have a media conference that week at the Jets’ offices. Saleh is scheduled to work with his general manager in Indianapolis this weekend; however, it is uncertain when he will next speak with reporters.

“Just a good conversation that we had the other day, and after we had a couple of meetings lined up and a couple interesting situations could present themselves, so, he decided to come out for a couple days,” stated Douglas. “He thought, we both thought it was a good opportunity to meet with some people and kind of explore that landscape that I keep talking about.”

The task of identifying possible plug-and-play candidates who can contribute right away to a team in win-now mode is crucial for Douglas and his staff.

“Coaches are present here. Tony Dews will be at the running back exercise. He is here right now. More instructors will be joining us for the sessions, Douglas announced on Wednesday.

Saleh has come under fire for both the team’s 18-33 record during his tenure and its ongoing offensive shortcomings. With quarterback Aaron Rodgers, the Jets, who were 31st in total offense (268.6), have a number of holes to cover. New York very certainly has to use its first-round choice to identify a Week 1 starter since there are three open places on the offensive line.
