After Forest missed out on the Championship play-offs on the last day of the previous season, and after the team started this season with five straight losses, four of which were in the Championship, Lamouchi’s departure seemed imminent. Forest is located in the drop zone.
A brief statement from the club said, “Nottingham Forest can confirm that head coach Sabri Lamouchi’s contract has been terminated with immediate effect.” Hughton’s arrival was confirmed in a considerably longer statement that came out thirty minutes later.
