Luke Williams, the manager of Notts County, has been named head coach of Swansea City for a three-and-a-half-year term.

Michael Duff was fired by the Championship club on December 4, and Notts and the 43-year-old reached an agreement on compensation. This brings an end to the club’s month-long search.

Williams, who finished fifth in League Two, guided County back to the EFL last season after the team was promoted through the National League play-offs.

Along with him, who have moved from Meadow Lane, are his assistant Ryan Harley and first-team coach George Lawtey. The new management group will take charge of Saturday’s FA Cup third-round match against Morecambe.

Before taking over at Notts, Williams served as Russell Martin’s assistant manager at Swansea.
