Due to a serious problem, the head coach of the New York Yankees has terminated the owner’s contract.
Greg Joyce of the New York Post reports that Pat Roessler will likely join the New York Yankees as an assistant hitting coach.
Under Rowson, Roessler will work alongside Casey Dykes as an assistant, and he is undoubtedly familiar with New York City.
He was the hitting coach for the New York Mets in 2018 after serving as their assistant coach from 2015 to 2017. Roessler served as the Yankees’ director of player development from 2005 to 2014 before that. He met James Rowson, the new hitting coach of the Yankees, at that time, when Rowson was the team’s minor-league hitting coordinator.
Brad Wilkerson, Dykes, and hitting coach Dillon Lawson were the Yankees’ assistants going into the previous campaign.
Lawson was let go during the All-Star break because the offense was having serious problems and was succeeded for the remainder of the season by Sean Casey. Before the 2018 season, it is said that New York attempted to interview Casey for their hitting coach position. However, at that time, he was unable to consider the role due to his girlfriend’s chemotherapy treatments.
Due to family reasons, Casey decided not to come back in 2024, which is why the Yankees hired Rowson in November to be their new hitting coach.
Rowson was the hitting coach for the Minnesota Twins and the Chicago Cubs at one point. Before coming to the Tigers, he spent three years as the bench coach for the Miami Marlins. However, Rowson worked for the Yankees for six seasons as their minor-league hitting coordinator prior to being given all of these opportunities in Major League Baseball.
