Boxall is the Loon with the most game appearances (over 150 total across all competitions) in his six seasons with the team, having joined MLS. All four of Boxall’s MLS goals have been scored with MNUFC; his most recent goal tied Supporters’ Shield winners LAFC in the season’s final home game.
Beyond Major League Soccer, Boxall has spent seasons in the Australian A-League with Wellington Phoenix, the South African Premier Division’s SuperSport United (where he led the team to back-to-back Nedbank Cup titles), Auckland FC (where he won the New Zealand Football Championship), Central United FC (where he won the 2007 Northern Premier League title), and Wellington Phoenix (where he won the Australian A-League).
During the off-season, Michael and his spouse, Libby, alternate between their residences in New Zealand and Minnesota. Maxwell Milou is the daughter, and Beau Beckham is the son that they have.
International: Since making his debut in 2011, Boxall has made more than 40 appearances for the New Zealand National Team. He has appeared in both the 2017 Confederations Cup and World Cup Qualification. On October 11, 2016, he received his first international assist against the United States, which tied the game at one in the latter half of the second half.
