Ehsan Zakeri, an eMLS player known as “LAMPS,” has signed a new two-year contract with Minnesota United, the team announced today. In 2022, ‘LAMPS’ made his debut both as a Minnesota United player and as a competitor in the eMLS League Series 2, where he won the title and advanced to the FIFA World Cup 2022 Round of 16 Knockout Stage. Zakeri was initially signed by MNUFC in December 2021.
Zakeri remarked, “I am thrilled to be back for another two years and very motivated to build on last year’s successes.” “I’m happy to have had the opportunity to represent Minnesota United on such a large scale during the previous season, and I can’t wait to show off my abilities to both eMLS rivals and my international colleagues going forward.”
This season, “LAMPS” made significant progress both domestically and internationally. The 19-year-old defeated DC United’s KingCJ0 in the eMLS Cup 2022 semifinals after winning the eMLS League Series 2 in February. In July of this year, “LAMPS” made it to the 32-player FIFA World Cup 2022 in Copenhagen, Denmark, after winning the EA FIFA 22 Global Series Playoffs in London, England. Zakeri participated in Group A, going 6-5-3 (W-L-D) with 26 goals scored and 23 points to place third in the group and move on to the Round of 16 knockout games. “LAMPS” was defeated 3-2 on aggregate by Nicolas99FC of Argentina in his Knockout Stage match. The player from Minnesota United eMLS who qualified for the event went further than any other player in any EA competition.
“LAMPS,” a native of Long Island, New York, started playing competitive esports soccer with FIFA 20 before joining Minnesota United. ‘LAMPS’ participated in eMLS and FIFA tournaments with Sporting Kansas City as their second player before joining MNUFC. Zakeri, a Stony Brook University student, is well-known for winning significant FIFA 21 and FIFA 22 competitions. A complete list of ‘LAMPS’ FIFA 22 achievements and finishes can be seen below:
