A formidable player and star of Luton town who was initially listed as not for sale was eventually sold for an incredible sum of money—billions of dollars.

Luton Town have had a busy summer following their thrilling play-off final victory and first-ever promotion to the Premier League. Former Birmingham City player and Manchester United youth system product Tahith Chong is the newest addition to the roster as the team gets ready for what looks to be a challenging season in the top division. The 23-year-old only played in a few senior games for the Red Devils, but according to a 25% sell-on clause, Manchester United will receive £1 million of the £4 million that Luton paid for him, with the remaining funds going to his previous team, Birmingham City.

Chong is the latest addition to a long list of players that Luton Town have brought in this summer in an attempt to stay in the Premier League. Other players on the list include Mads Andersen of Barnsley and Chiedozie Ogbene of Rotherham. Chong is a talented young winger. Nonetheless, it is evident that the transfer market requires a great deal more effort. After a fruitful loan with the Hatters, USMNT goalkeeper Ethan Horvath will return to Forest. Luton Town will undoubtedly need more talent on the pitch to have any hope of surviving.

Plans are far advanced for the 2023–24 season, when Luton will compete in the Premier League with teams that have vastly larger budgets; nonetheless, they are steadfast in their commitment to talent development and prudent expenditure. They will meet Brighton & Hove Albion, a team in the Europa League, in their season opener, which promises to be a formidable test.
