Only a few weeks after Toronto’s 89-win regular season ended in elimination in the wild-card series, changes were implemented. The Minnesota Twins swept the Blue Jays in two games, with the Jays only managing one run.

DeMarlo Hale rejoined the squad as associate manager under captain John Schneider, one of the changes. After the Blue Jays finished seventh in the majors in runs scored (746) and fourteenth in team average (.256), hitting coach Guillermo Martinez was reinstated.

John Lannan was appointed major-league mental performance coach, while Matt Hague and Hunter Mense will be Matt Hague’s assistant hitting coaches. Dave Hudgens, the hitting strategist, was moved to minor league offensive game planning.
