The all-time great Ipswich Town player announced his retirement due to his marriage.

First and foremost, I want to express my gratitude to everyone who has supported me along the way, including my friends, my son, my three sisters, my brother, and my stunning and resilient mother. I appreciate your help very much. We will always treasure the memories and experiences we have.

Secondly, I would like to express my gratitude to each and every one of my former teams: Maccabi Tel Aviv, Toronto FC, Blackpool, Chicago Fire, Norwich City, Derby, Nottingham Forest, Greenock Morton, West Brom, and Vancouver Whitecaps FC. I would like to express my gratitude to all of the players I have played with, the coaches and support staff for their unending hours of help, and most importantly, the fans.

I have happy recollections of living in an African coal mining community, watching my mother play football in Zambia and subsequently Malawi, where I attended school, and creating footballs out of plastic bags.

Robert Earnshaw, a stalwart of Cardiff City, has retired from football.
My mother raised me while working two jobs and finding the time to provide for me. Without a doubt, this is where my motivation and energy come from. I never had a father figure because I lost my father when I was nine years old.

To me, football has acted as a father figure. It has given me valuable life lessons about perseverance, hard work, and focus. I’ve learned a lot about the world through football, including religion, cultures, and how people from different backgrounds can join together to enjoy a game we all love.

I’ve become a better man on and off the field thanks to football. My love for football has allowed me to play alongside some of my favorite players as well as against and on the same field as some of the greatest players in history, including Ronaldinho, Del Piero, Kaka, Pirlo, Giggs, Ronaldo, Bergkamp, Henry, Beckham, and I could go on.

I will always remember everything that happened to me, from playing in the English Premier League as a child to kicking footballs against our garage door in Caerphilly, Wales, to representing Wales on the international arena. Having the opportunity to represent all 59 football supporters in Wales and scoring the game-winning goal against Germany in my debut are amazing experiences that I will always cherish and are very significant to me.

It’s appropriate that my playing career has come full circle to conclude in Major League Soccer because I first realized how passionate I was about this game when I watched football on TV, especially when I watched the USA World Cup in 1994.
