Pundit claims Blackburn Rovers should receive £15–20 million as Brentford and Luton Town circl
Sammie Szmodics, the Blackburn Rovers talisman, is wanted after his actions this season.
With just nine games left in the Championship, Blackburn Rovers sit only three points above the relegation zone, reflecting a challenging season for the Lancashire team.
On February 9th, by mutual consent, former Rovers manager Jon Dahl Tomasson quit the team. That same day, former Birmingham City manager John Eustace was appointed.
Rovers have drawn five of the seven Championship games Eustace has managed from the dugout thus far, demonstrating how tough a team he has made them to beat.

In the FA Cup fifth round, Rovers drew 1-1 with Premier League team Newcastle United as well. However, after matching their top tier opponents for 120 minutes, Rovers lost to the Magpies on penalties.
But under his leadership, Eustace’s team is yet to win. Their most recent triumph came just one day after the manager was appointed, during a 3-1 Rovers victory over Stoke that he largely observed from the stands at Ewood Park.
Sammie Szmodics, who has already scored 21 goals in 35 Championship games, has been a bright spot for the Lancashire team despite their struggles this season.
Szmodics’ goal-scoring prowess may keep Rovers out of the relegation zone, but it should come as no surprise that the Premier League is interested in the Irishman.
Brentford and Luton are interested in Szmodics, and depending on their individual circumstances as they fight to avoid the Premier League drop, both teams may be tempted to make an offer this summer, according to Alan Nixon, who made the revelation on Patreon.
In response to Luton Town and Brentford’s interest in Sammie Szmodics, Carlton Palmer
Former England international turned commentator Carlton Palmer exclusively discussed his thoughts with Football League World, stating that Rovers would not be able to reject offers for their talisman in the neighborhood of £15 million to £20 million should that kind of proposal come in.
On the Szmodics transfer rumors, Palmer told Football League World, “He’s had a terrific season so far, he’s scored 21 goals in 35 games, he’s the top scorer in the division.”
“He’s having the best season of his life; his previous best total was 15 goals in 2021 when playing for Peterborough in League One.
Would he benefit Brentford in any way? Is he a good fit for Luton? He’s a very talented player who can come off, keep the ball, and go in behind. He’s 28 years old.
“At 28, he has a contract that runs through the summer of 2026. If Blackburn receives a real offer, which I believe should be between £15 and £20 million for a player producing that kind of goal in the Championship, it will be tough for Blackburn Rovers to decline.
And everyone is aware of Blackburn Rovers’ policy: if there is a substantial price, you can be sure he will be moving on.
“The player at 28 hasn’t got time on his side, so to be able to play in the Premier League would be a great opportunity for him.”
Supporters of Blackburn Rovers should get ready for Sammie Szmodics to go.
Even if Eustace’s men manage to avoid the drop, it seems inevitable that Szmodics will depart the club this summer, as he is clearly a player who is worthy of performing at a level higher than that of Rovers.
Szmodics is on course to win the Championship Golden Boot if he keeps his current form up, which is an impressive feat considering the fact he is not an out-and-out striker by trade.
He has, nevertheless, made a name for himself as a player with a constantly deadly eye for goal, which attracts Premier League teams.
Whether Brentford and Luton can avoid relegation to the Championship will determine Szmodics’ summer destination, at least in part. If that happens, neither club will be willing to spend more than £15 million on a player, and especially not on a player who is now 28.
