new heartbreak,Head coach of the Minnesota Vikings, Kevin O Connells, announced his resignation due to coming back of…

When Kevin O’Connell joined the Minnesota Vikings as head coach in February 2022, he had never been a head coach in the National Football League.

He had left the Super Bowl-winning Los Angeles Rams. After the Vikings fired defensive-minded Mike Zimmer, O’Connell—who had been the Rams’ offensive coordinator under Sean McVay—fit what they were searching for. He was eager, youthful (he was 36 at the time), and most importantly, he was an expert on the offensive end of the ball.

He was acquainted with the Vikings quarterback, too, having spent one season (2017) in Washington as Kirk Cousins’ position coach.

Though there was hope that O’Connell could get more from the Vikings than Zimmer could in consecutive non-playoff seasons, almost everyone was taken aback by the team’s 13-game winning streak before an agonizing defeat to the Giants in the opening round of the playoffs.

Let’s take a look at what O’Connell has accomplished so far and where he still has potential to improve as the Vikings prepare to begin their second training camp under his leadership. Earlier this week, we carried out the same action for Kwesi Adofo-Mensah, general manager.
