With great pleasure, the Panthers announce Anthony Griffin’s appointment to the position of head coach for a three-year period.

Griffin’s employment at Pepper Stadium was confirmed this morning by Phil Gould, the executive general manager of the Panthers.

According to Mr. Gould, Anthony Griffin was the top option to lead the Panthers for the following three seasons as head coach.

Please be aware that this role was not advertised. No further candidates were interviewed, and we did not accept applications. We are thrilled that he accepted our offer to take over as our club’s new head coach.

Anthony was the ideal fit for this club because of his background in nurturing exceptional youth talent all the way up to the NRL. We are confident he is the right person to build on the fantastic foundations laid by our former head coach, Ivan Cleary.

“For a very long time, the Brisbane Broncos—Anthony’s former team—have been regarded as the standard for professional rugby league across the globe. The Broncos organization provided us with references that were immaculate in terms of Anthony’s expertise, work ethic, character, and passion for the game. This just served to validate our own thoughts that Anthony is a wise addition to the Panthers.

In the early 2000s, Griffin was the assistant coach of the Melbourne Storm. From 2011 to 2014, he was the head coach of the Brisbane Broncos. He coached in the Queensland Cup competition in between his NRL tenure, helping the Redcliffe Dolphins win the premiership in 2006.
