Bills has finally reached agreement to sign another top player from the….

A key member of the special teams unit who gives the Buffalo Bills depth at defensive back will be retained.

Cam Lewis, a local college product, has agreed to a $4 million, two-year contract deal, as reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter, who quoted agent Sean Stellato. The 26-year-old Lewis, who was not selected by Buffalo, a team in the Mid-American Conference in 2020, had played for the Bills for the last four seasons.

Lewis’s re-signing provides some continuity on the four special teams units, after the Bills were forced to dismiss defensive back and key special team member Siran Neal last week due to salary cap constraints.

Lewis has appeared in 42 games during the regular season while playing for the Bills, including all 17 in 2023. He played 75 percent of the special teams snaps and finished with five tackles. On 144 defensive plays, the adaptable defensive back also recorded 16 stops and two passes defensed.

Lewis, a 5-9 undersized cornerback, was first given a position on the roster as a reserve. He has moved into a role as a safety backup and can even snap as a nickel corner when necessary. Lewis, who will be entering his sixth season as a professional, has yet to intercept a pass in his career.

Lewis will return in 2024 to a secondary that will have a new appearance because the Bills have already parted ways with cornerback Tre’Davious White and safety Jordan Poyer. He joins safety Taylor Rapp as the second defensive back from Buffalo to re-sign this offseason.
