The South Africa U20 Women’s squad will play their first women’s U20 internationals in six years on Wednesday, June 26, and Saturday, June 29, in Harare, under the direction of Hansen and her management group. The South African women’s U20 team last played against teams from other countries during the 2013 Nations Cup in London, where they faced England, the United States, and Canada.
CEO of SA Rugby, Jurie Roux, congratulated Johannes on being appointed as the country’s first female national team coach.
“We wish Laurian luck in this important role. This is a massive achievement for Laurian and for South African rugby,” Roux said.

“This accomplishment is made even more significant by the fact that Laurian participated in the 2010 Women’s Rugby World Cup and played for the Springbok Women’s team before learning the ropes as a coach at Western Province. She has advanced through the ranks, and my hope is that she will encourage other female athletes who were once players to become coaches and pursue their passions.
“Natasha and Nomsebenzi, who have competed at the highest level and are aware of what it takes to win, are similarly qualified.
“Our female players and referees have become well-known on the global scene in recent years, but this game is so beautiful that there are a ton of other ways our former players can use their experience to support the game.
“I think Natasha and Nomsebenzi’s understanding of what players need will place them in good stead in their roles as team managers, as they play a crucial role in a side’s success on the field.”
Roux continued, saying, “I also want to congratulate the other management members and the assistant coaches on their appointments. We wish them luck as they get ready for their matches because it is an honor to be a part of any national team, and this is a big season for women’s rugby in South Africa.
Johannes began her coaching career at the junior level in the Western Province in 2015. She has been the WP U18 women’s coach since 2017, and she expressed her happiness with her appointment.
