The Penrith Panthers captain has been suspended due to his behaviour towards his wife.
Kikau will play for the Panthers again the following season, but he’ll play for the Bulldogs in 2023.
Although he and the team are “really sad” about Kikau’s departure, Panthers coach Ivan Cleary told Mark Levy that they are also happy for him and understand his decision because they are expecting their first child together.
“Everyone gains value as they advance in life.
In the past two years, six players have made their Origin debuts.
“One day, phone numbers will be thrown at players; it’s just a fact of life.”
The Penrith Panthers are happy to announce that Nathan Cleary and Isaah Yeo will share leadership of the team in 2021.
The club’s most seasoned player, Yeo, 26, has played in 148 NRL games, while Cleary, 23, has developed into a leader over the last five years as the halfback.
Panthers coach Ivan Cleary stated, “Isaah and Nathan were naturally leading those around them during the first few weeks of this pre-season.”
What was best for our team was immediately clear. Those two seemed like they had been appointed already. It was that innate.
“I believe it’s advantageous that they can divide the load of additional duties that come with the position as they are inexperienced captains.
