Possible Destinations for Detroit Lions Wide Receiver Ceedy Duco

Choosing what to do with safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson is one of the hardest decisions the Detroit Lions will have to make before free agency begins. The Lions cut short Gardner-Johnson’s season after he inked a one-year contract last offseason. Gardner-Johnson is also known by the nickname Ceedy Duce. He wouldn’t be able to return until the regular season because of a torn pec in Week 2.

Gardner-Johnson, as previously said, had a minimal impact on the field this past season. He was still regarded as one of the team’s most important locker room leaders, though. Even if it’s difficult to measure how much of an influence his swagger had on the other players, he nonetheless significantly raised the club’s youthful defensive backs group’s confidence. For that reason, I wouldn’t be shocked if Detroit signed Duce to a new short-term contract.

If a trip back to Detroit isn’t in the cards, there have been rumors that Duce will be getting back together with his former boss. With six interceptions, he tied for the league lead in 2022, marking a stellar season for the Eagles. Philadelphia doesn’t have many guarantees because it won’t have any established output coming back in 2024. Duce might therefore be a strong match to return and make a contribution under new defensive coordinator Vic Fangio of the Eagles. Duce might be a useful addition as the Eagles try to recover from an unsuccessful 2023 season that concluded in the Wild Card round of the playoffs. He can play safety
