By resigning, Domingo German has literally broken the heart of the New York Yankees.

In a ceremony scheduled for November 19, Fresno State Bulldogs, the alma mater of New York Yankees slugger Aaron Judge, will retire his number.

Judge wore the Bulldogs’ No. 29. Along with No. 44, which belonged to former Fresno State coach Mike Batesole, his number will be retired. On November 18, the two will also get recognition during a Fresno State football game.

Judge’s head coach at FSU was Batesole.

Director of Athletics Terry Tumey stated in a release announcing the jersey retirement that “Aaron Judge epitomizes all that Fresno State Athletics stands for, not only with respect to his remarkably high levels of athletic success, but more importantly in who he is as a person and the impact he makes on his communities.”

Judge was selected by the Yankees in the first round of the 2013 MLB Draft after playing for the Bulldogs for three seasons (2011–13).

Judge won WAC Freshman of the Year and Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American honors in 2011 while he was a Bulldog. After three rounds and sixteen home runs, Judge won the 2012 TD Ameritrade College Baseball Home Run Derby. During his 169 games wearing a Bulldog uniform, Judge had a.345 average, 18 home runs, and 109 RBI. He was chosen in 2013.

He has established himself as New York’s best power batter. After breaking the American League record for the most home runs in a season with 62, he was named the 2022 American League MVP. He was a three-time Silver Slugger, five-time All-Star, and the 2017 AL Rookie of the Year.
