The spouse of an Edmonton woman, 51, who passed away, is accused of second-degree murder.
Police were called to a domestic incident at a residence close to 75A Street and 166 Avenue at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
Officers discovered 51-year-old Daniela Roman’s body in the home’s basement.
Her husband, who is 54 years old, was placed under arrest.
CTV News Edmonton was informed by neighbors that the couple moved in during the summer.
Marise Guzak, a neighbor, said, “I knew something was going on over here because I saw one of the officers get out and run this direction.”
“A frightening experience. The fact that it occurred just before Christmas is also very tragic.
Bob Draginda told CTV News, “I just got home from a walk with the dog, and all of a sudden the police were apprehending a man who was kneeling on the driveway of the neighbor next door.”
Multiple blunt and crush injuries were the medical examiner’s findings following an autopsy on Friday morning in Rome.
It has been determined that she was killed.
