Unfortunately, the head coach of the Blue Jays officially decided to terminate their contract due to…
It was revealed on August 11th that Jose Bautista will formally retire as a Toronto Blue Jay by signing a one-day contract. Forever remembered for his tenure as a Blue Jay and his contribution to his team’s 2015 postseason run, Bautista will always be remembered. He will also always be associated with the iconic bat flip, which was a symbol of unadulterated joy and emotion. The legend himself has a few things to teach the current Jays lineup. One could even argue that his offensive bat would be useful to the Jays in 2023. After retiring, Bautista will be known for his clutch hits when there were runners on base.
At his peak performance, Bautista was untouchable. In 2010, he hit 54 home runs, three times leading the Jays in that category. Between 2010 and 2015, he appeared in six All-Star games and earned three Silver Slugger medals. His 288 home runs as a Blue Jay rank second only to Carlos Delgado’s 336. He had incredible attention at the plate when he was at his best. In addition to having a great batting eye at the plate, Bautista was skilled at crushing balls over the strike zone. When he questioned and debated balls and strikes with an umpire, he was usually correct.
