Nick Sorenson, a defensive passing game specialist for the San Francisco 49ers, has been promoted to defensive coordinator and will also be responsible for play-calling, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter and Jeremy Fowler.
In addition, Sorenson will have Brandon Staley, the former head coach of the Los Angeles Chargers, filling an unspecified position. He might even take on the role of assistant head coach for the team.
Sorenson began coaching in 2010 after concluding a ten-season playing career. He has been a member of the 49ers since 2022. He will now have to manage one of the NFL’s top defenses. Nevertheless, Sorenson’s transition ought to go much more smoothly with Staley at his side.
