“I’ll leave if he’s not fired.” Due to their major miscommunication, a key player for the Green Bay Packers has stated he will leave the team if his colleague is not dismissed.

Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, a former safety who started 65 games during the regular season and appeared in 71 for Green Bay from 2014 to 2018, has informed the team that he will be retiring with the Packers. On Thursday, Brian Gutekunst, general manager, made the announcement.

The Packers first selected Clinton-Dix, a University of Alabama product, in the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft (21st overall). Throughout his more than four seasons with Green Bay, he recorded 337 solo tackles, 419 total tackles, 14 interceptions (leading the team during that time), 38 passes defensed, and three forced fumbles. Along with starting all seven of the Packers’ postseason games, Clinton-Dix recorded 39 tackles (32 solo), three interceptions, and eleven passes defensed.

After leading the team with a career-high five interceptions (tied for fifth in the NFL and second among safeties), Clinton-Dix was named to the Pro Bowl, received second-team All-Pro recognition from The Associated Press, and was named All-NFC by the Pro Football Writers Association in 2016. With a career-high 117 tackles (97 solo) and a career-high three sacks in 2015, he led the team and became the first Green Bay safety to record three sacks in a season since Mark Roman in 2004. In 2014, the Crimson Tide’s 2013 consensus All-America selection finished second among the Packers with 95 tackles (73 solo), and he was selected to the PFWA’s All-Rookie team.

During the 2018 regular season, Clinton-Dix was traded to Washington, where he started the final nine games. He played in two games for the Las Vegas Raiders in 2021 and started all 16 of the Chicago Bears’ 2019 games. Additionally, he played for the Denver Broncos (2021), San Francisco 49ers (2021), and Dallas Cowboys (2020, 2021).
