The New York Islanders head coach has announced captain’s Anders Lee  retirement

UNIONDALE, New York After a three-decade career that included a spell as the captain of the New York Islanders, Anders Lee retired from the NHL due to age and injury.

A short distance from the Anders Lee. The veteran captain, who captained six teams, announced his retirement on Thursday at a Long Island hotel. He also accepted a position as an assistant coach and senior advisor to general manager Garth Snow with the Islanders.

With a little assistance from Snow, the forty-year-old Weight said a tearful goodbye to the game he has played since he was a young boy in Michigan.

Lee tried to control his mounting emotions, pausing several times during his prepared remarks to wipe his eyes with the tissues Snow had given him, let out an audible sigh, and take sips of water.

“Saying goodbye and never going to play again in the league, it’s terrible.” Weight stated. It’s difficult. Although it feels horrible and depressing, it also marks the beginning of what I hope will be the best period of my life.”
