According to reports, Manchester United is considering making a summer move for Ross Barkley, a midfield player for Luton Town.
When Barkley moved on a free transfer to Kenilworth Road at the beginning of the season, there were questions raised because it was thought that he might not be a good fit for the close-knit Hatters team, who had just been promoted to the Premier League.

But the 30-year-old has turned out to be one of the best additions made last summer, with Barkley being a key component in keeping Luton competitive in the Premier League.

The England international has made 20 Premier League appearances and has produced three goals and three assists in addition to his leadership in the middle of the pitch.

After a lackluster period with Nice, Barkley has relaunched his career to such a degree that, for the first time in several years, people are taking an interest in his performances.

However, because he just signed a one-year contract, his potential stay with Luton is still up in the air. It also depends on if the team can escape returning to the Championship.

The Sun claims that Sir Jim Ratcliffe, the new minority owner of Man United, is debating whether to try to sign Barkley before 2024–2025.

Since Ratcliffe owns Nice, Barkley’s previous club, the two have a long history together. The playmaker moved to the south of France when his Chelsea contract expired in 2022.

Barkley only played 920 minutes in Ligue 1, despite his 27 appearances in which he scored four goals and provided two assists. As a result, he was permitted to depart at the conclusion of the season.

Nevertheless, rumors have it that Barkley is admired by Ratcliffe and Sir Dave Brailsford, who is interested in signing him for nothing.

Ratcliffe is presently organizing plans for a summer rebuild, during which United hopes to bolster multiple areas of the field while cutting ties with a number of senior squad members.

The fact that Barkley is a revived player and would not cost United anything would help the team fulfill its remaining FFP obligations.

On the other hand, given that Barkley has already fallen short of his promise at Everton and Chelsea, this is a signing that is bound to cause controversy.
