Total Breakdown: Kyle Shanahan broke down in tears when he broke the awful news about this important player and provided a heartbreaking update.

For an NFL player, winning the Super Bowl might be their greatest accomplishment. It is the result of all your dedication and hard work. If you miss out on a chance to participate, it should ideally be within your control, at the very least.

Because of this, Dre Greenlaw’s alleged leg injury sustained during Super Bowl 58 is particularly tragic.

The standout linebacker for the San Francisco 49ers was harmed when he was just coming back onto the field during his second Super Bowl appearance. It’s not a typo. It’s unclear exactly what transpired, but Greenlaw is truly unfortunate, and you have to feel terrible for her:

It seemed as though Dre Greenlaw hurt himself while jogging back onto the field.

It goes without saying that the 49ers may suffer greatly if Greenlaw were to miss any significant time. One of their greatest defenders, he’s been harmed in what appeared to be a strange accident.

NFL fans were deeply saddened by Dre Greenlaw.
While jogging onto the field in between series, Dre Greenlaw injured his knee.

Simply terrible, terrible luck.

Everyone felt awful for Dre Greenlaw after he tore his Achilles tendon while filling in during Super Bowl LVIII. But his teammates took the emotional toll from it more than anyone else.

The San Francisco 49ers‘ response to their linebacker tumbling to the ground was captured in previously unreleased video that aired on The CW’s Inside the NFL on Tuesday. Pro Bowler Fred Warner shouts “No” in agony while the rest of the defense just looks on in shock. In the meantime, tight end George Kittle and head coach Kyle Shanahan inquire about the circumstances in a perplexed manner.
Chris Long, the co-host, talked about the injury’s effects after the video played:

“Greenlaw and Warner’s combo is really a game changer. On first and second down, it provided the Chiefs with a small amount of breathing room and air. He excels in both running and boxing, but he also does well in coverage. Dre Greenlaw has a transformative power.”

49ers players discuss the startling Achilles injury sustained by Dre Greenlaw.
The thing that hurts the most about Dre Greenlaw’s injury is that he was productive before. In spite of his pressure, Patrick Mahomes was clearly having trouble finding open men, as he recorded three tackles.

The greatest way to put it in the post-game scrum was by Fred Warner:

“I was feeling quite ill. I’m still unwell. When I saw him at halftime, I couldn’t stop sobbing because I felt so bad for him. I knew exactly what had happened when I saw him fall as we sprinted across the field together.”
Meanwhile, George Kittle voiced optimism that the 2019 fifth-round selection would speak with a specific former opponent to get advise on how to heal from the injury:

It is disheartening to sustain an injury during the Super Bowl. I hope he gets in touch with Aaron Rodgers and finds a way to recover that fast. Dre is our team’s lifeblood. There, he and Fred are mutually reinforcing. He embodies all that the Niners are all about.
The 49ers may soon have to deal with the worst news possible: Greenlaw may miss the entire 2024 season, which is the final year of his current contract, according to Brandon Glick of GiveMeSport.
