Total Breakdown: John Harbaugh broke down in tears when he broke the awful news about this important player and provided a heartbreaking update.
Ronnie Stanley, an offensive tackle with the Baltimore Ravens, struggled tremendously at times during the 2023 campaign. His play may have been affected by the ankle injury he sustained early in the season, as he gave up big plays and didn’t appear completely healthy.
We will always place a strong emphasis on the offensive line here. We will keep examining that each and every year. It gets harder and harder for guys to keep healthy, especially as they age. And regrettably, Ronnie [Stanley] has suffered from a number of ailments that have harmed him and his performance—first an ankle injury, then a string of knee injuries—without any fault of his own. That has undoubtedly played a role. I adore Ronnie, and his playing is still really good. This will be a significant offseason for him, in my opinion, as he works to regain his strength, health, and football conditioning. All of those personnel choices will be made in the upcoming weeks based on our decisions. However, regarding the role as a whole, I firmly believe When we interviewed Coach [John Harbaugh] in 2008, he said this. He states, “We’re going to have to have a strong physical big offensive line, and we’re going to keep doing that because it’s kind of ingrained in our organization’s culture.”
If Stanley stays with the organization in 2024, Baltimore will require more from him. A post-June 1st designation for Stanley’s release would free up $15 million in cap space, allowing them to add more players or bring back some of their own. John Harbaugh, the head coach, reiterated his trust in Stanley despite the fact that his performance was significantly impacted by his injuries.
