Tevita Pangai Junior of Penrith is still a major doubt for Sunday’s grand final against South Sydney due to concerns that he may have damaged his knee’s medial ligament.

Pangai Junior, who sustained an injury during the Panthers’ 10-6 victory over the Melbourne Storm in the preliminary finals, was unable to speak when he arrived at the team’s media day on Monday while wearing a brace.

The former Brisbane Bronco is among the players who are awaiting scan results.

Due to a foot injury he developed during the second half of the season, Edwards was unable to play in the first round of the playoffs.

On Monday, he was seen with a moon boot on his right foot.

While fellow front rower Moses Leota is fighting to recover from a calf strain in time for the grand final, prop James Fisher-Harris is waiting on the results of scans on his knee after having difficulty during portions of last Saturday’s victory over the Storm.

NSW State of Origin winger Brian To’o is still recovering from a syndesmosis injury and waiting on scan results.

On Monday, To’o was ridiculedly wheeled out in front of the cameras in a wheelchair, but he was later spotted with a guard around his ankle.

This is the most challenging situation Penrith has faced during a season in which they have frequently been without players for practise.

Co-captain Isaah Yeo stated, “It’s been like this for the last four or five weeks.”

“I don’t recall the last time we had all 17 of us there due to injuries and other issues since the Origin period.

“It’s obviously not ideal but it’s something we have dealt with.”

The Rabbitohs, who defeated Manly 36–16 to advance to the grand final, have a concern regarding an injury: halfback Adam Reynolds is experiencing groin tightness.

On Friday night, Reynolds participated in the game against the Sea Eagles, but his kicking responsibilities were limited. Instead, rookie fullback Blake Taaffe was assigned to kick the goal.
