On Monday night, the Jacksonville Jaguars might have lost more than just ground in the AFC playoff race.
Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence will have an MRI on Tuesday after initially being diagnosed with an ankle sprain during the team’s 34-31 overtime loss to the Cincinnati Bengals, according to NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero.
Following the game, Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson confirmed that Lawrence would take additional tests on Tuesday but provided no other updates.
After the loss, Lawrence appeared to be able to stand on his ankle in the locker room, but he was cautious not to put any weight on it or walk on it, according to NFL Network’s Cameron Wolfe. Lawrence left the locker room wearing a walking boot after being seen informing his teammates about the injury. According to Wolfe, several of them appeared to be in good spirits after speaking with him.

With 5:25 remaining in the fourth quarter and the score tied at 28-28, Lawrence was hurt. Walker Little, his offensive lineman, stepped on him during a dropback, causing him to sag awkwardly to the ground.
The quarterback for the Jaguars fell back to the ground after attempting to leave the field. It took two trainers’ assistance to get him back to the sidelines and the tunnel so he could be assessed.
After Cincinnati had driven for a field goal, veteran backup C.J. Beathard entered the game in relief and scored three points of his own to help force overtime.
