Omenihu was undoubtedly a sought-after player in free agency due to his play, but was the situation itself too much to swallow in addition to the high price?

It raises the question of whether the chiefs were aware that this was a possibility.

Omehinu’s contract had an initial base salary of $1,080,000, a $7,500,000 signing bonus, a $20,000 workout bonus, and a $4,490,000 cap hit in addition to a $7,500,000 dead cap value.

The Chiefs were counting on Omenihu’s presence and output, but the exact breakdown of his compensation will depend on the details of the contract.

As a 49ers defensive lineman who was used as a rotational player, Omenihu recorded 20 combined tackles, 13 assists, and 4.5 sacks in the previous campaign. His career-high four and a half sacks were achieved.
