Just In: Another terrible news hit the Chiefs as Andy Reid has sorrowfully announced…

The Kansas City Chiefs are preparing for their Super Bowl 58 matchup against the San Francisco 49ers in Las Vegas this Sunday, with the goal of being the first club since the New England Patriots in 2003–2204 to win the championship twice. The Chiefs, who had a slower season than some had anticipated, found their rhythm in crunch time and are now aiming to win a Super Bowl 54 rematch.

Despite having a chance to win back-to-back Super Bowls with Patrick Mahomes and company, the Chiefs are the underdogs going into the game. The game will be broadcast live from Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on CBS at 6:30 p.m. ET.

Injury report for Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl 58
This team does not have any injured players. Potential important players are currently absent.
Joe Thuney
Joe Thuney’s chances of playing in the Super Bowl were never great. Due to a pectoral injury, the All-Pro left guard had to leave the team’s victory against the Buffalo Bills in the divisional round. He then missed the AFC championship game against the Baltimore Ravens. Thuney was absent from practice the previous week and was listed as another DNP on the injury report on Wednesday.

Thuney’s prospects were further lowered when Chiefs head coach Andy Reid informed reporters that he would wager on Thuney probably not suiting up for the game on Sunday. The Chiefs’ offensive line would suffer greatly from the loss of Thuney, one of the most reliable guards in the NFL in recent years.

Chris Jones
Jones had a quad injury this week, but he participated in practice to the fullest extent possible. Although Jones proceeded with practice as usual, it’s still important to keep a watch on this as the week goes on. Jones has been a major contributor to the Chiefs this season, amassing 10.5 sacks and 29 quarterback hits on his way to his second consecutive season on the first team All-Pro.

Regarding Jones’ injury, there probably isn’t anything to be concerned about, but it’s interesting that he’s at least listed on the injury report this week.

Jerick Kinnon
McKinnon is the only other Chiefs player who did not fully participate in practice on Wednesday, along with Thuney. With a groin ailment, the seasoned running back was designated as a limited participant as he steps up his comeback. He hasn’t played since the team’s victory against the New England Patriots in Week 15.

Although it doesn’t seem very likely that McKinnon will be ready for Sunday’s game against the 49ers, Andy Reid says that the fact that he’s returned as a limited participant provides him the slimmest chance.
