The denver have suffered a great loss as one of their star players perished in a horrific car accident.
Both cornerback Pat Surtain II and receiver Jerry Jeudy, who left the game against the Texans in the first half due to injuries, will return shortly. While Surtain’s shoulder injury is not serious, head coach Nathaniel Hackett stated that Jeudy suffered a rib injury but that X-rays were negative.
In the coming week, both players will be assessed in advance of the Broncos’ Week 3 home game against the 49ers.
For them, it’s good news, according to Hackett. They are going to be daily. We’re happy that both of those are minor injuries because we had assumed they might be more serious and prolonged ones. We’re not sure if they’ll be available for Sunday’s game, but we’re crossing our fingers and hoping.
30 points from De’Aaron Fox against the Denver Nuggets
The Broncos won’t have to worry about losing two of their best players for an extended period of time with those prognoses. With a quad injury, safety and defensive captain Justin Simmons is already on injured reserve. His earliest possible return date to the field is October 17 against the Los Angeles Chargers.
The team initially reported Jeudy’s injury as a shoulder injury, but Hackett changed it to a rib injury following the 16-9 victory over the Texans.
When he was hurt, six minutes into the first quarter, the receiver had one catch for eleven yards on three targets. Javonte Williams stole the pitch from Russell Wilson on that trick play, then threw it backwards to Wilson.
On a 15-yard out route towards the sideline, the quarterback singled out Jeudy, who was in man coverage alongside cornerback Steven Nelson.
Nelson drove Jeudy’s right shoulder into the ground after making the pass break up. Jeudy began to writhe in agony on the ground right away, and he made his way to the locker room via the sideline medical tent.
Broncos Analysis: Denver’s roster has a lot of decisions to make, but the upcoming free agent class isn’t particularly strong.
Week-end Evaluation: Russell Wilson of the Broncos seems to be struggling to get away from Sean Payton quickly enough.
The Broncos have officially hired senior offensive assistant Pete Carmichael Keeler and DBs coach/passing game coordinator Jim Leonhard.
Von Miller withdraws bid to foreclose on former mansion near Broncos HQ If Patrick Mahomes of the Chiefs can lead his team to consecutive championships, so can Nikola Jokic of the Nuggets.
Jeudy had a dismal 2021 with no touchdowns, but he started the season strong in Week 1 against the Seahawks, hauling in four passes for 102 yards and a touchdown.
In a victory over the Giants last season, Jeudy also got off to a respectable start with six receptions for 72 yards. However, in the third quarter of that game, he sprained his high ankle and had to be helped off the field. After missing the next six games, he made a season-high 77 yards in one game in Week 8, but he was never able to establish a consistent rhythm.
At 9:10 in the second quarter, Damarri Mathis took Surtain’s place. It’s unclear how the second-year pro was hurt because Texans receiver Chris Conley was blocking Surtain downfield on the previous play. With Simmons out for at least three more weeks due to injury, the early-season secondary depth problems are exacerbated.
The Texans targeted Mathis on two of the following four plays after Surtain left the field, and quarterback Davis Mills kept finding him an open receiver in the second half. Mathis, though, held up. The Pittsburgh native, selected in the fourth round, finished the contest with five tackles and one pass break.
Other injury updates include the slow progress of right tackle Billy Turner (who has missed the last two games due to offseason knee surgery) and inside linebacker Josey Jewell (who missed the first two games due to a calf injury). San Francisco could be the opponent on Sunday. In the last two weeks, Cam Fleming has spelled Turner, and Alex Singleton has started in Jewell’s place.
Hackett stated, “We’re hoping they’re both going to practice (full-go) because they’re very close to playing in a game.
A day after the team committed 13 penalties against Houston, increasing the total number of enforced penalties to a franchise-high 25 through two games, Hackett addressed the team’s careless play once more.
The Broncos saw two situations on Sunday: one in which a delay-of-game call resulted in a punt instead of a field goal opportunity, and another in which a misunderstanding on special teams left Montrell Washington on the sidelines when he was supposed to be returning for a punt. According to Hackett, the defense’s overindulgence in celebration after the third-down stop was the reason behind the case.
The topic of improving the operations is one that Hackett and I discuss frequently. We must ensure that all units are communicating in a clear and succinct manner, and I must get better at making decisions quickly and relaying that information to the quarterback. Russell Wilson and I will be going through a continuous process of growth.
