The Bills have suffered a great loss as one of their star players perished in a horrific car accident.

Hadley Engelhard, the agent for retired wide receiver Mike Williams of the Buffalo Bills and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, has confirmed Williams’ passing.

The Buffalo native was taken to a Tampa hospital last week following an incident at work. His injury left him on life support with partial paralysis, and false claims of his death were circulated.

According to his mother, Mary Rosenthal, he asked to be taken off the ventilator, and on Friday he was.

Prior to being selected by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the fourth round of the 2010 NFL Draft, Williams attended Syracuse University. Before being dealt to the Bills in 2014, he was signed to a four-year contract by the Bucs.

He only had one touchdown pass as a Bill, an 80-yarder from EJ Manuel. He collected 223 catches for 3,089 yards and 26 touchdowns during his career. Williams started 52 games out of 63 total games played.

Williams was thirty-six years old.
