According to authorities, a Green Bay Packers player was taken into custody after he allegedly made a false bomb threat at Los Angeles International Airport.

Wide receiver Trevor Davis, who was accompanied by a woman, was questioned routinely by an agent at the Hawaiian Airlines ticket counter on Sunday morning. The agent inquired as to whether Davis had brought any aerosols, fireworks, or other dangerous items. According to airport police spokesperson Rob Pedregon, who spoke with ABC News, Davis answered “yes” and then “turned to the female companion and said, ‘Did you pack the explosives?'”

Pedregon stated, “That statement led to his arrest for making a false bomb threat, a misdemeanor.”

According to Pedregon, Davis, 24, said he was joking when he apologized to the responding officer, but the ticket agent stated she believed he was serious.

The NFL player’s court date is set for May 3.

The Packers made the following statement in a statement on Monday: “The Packers are aware of the Trevor Davis situation. Since this is a continuing legal matter, we will hold off on making any more comments while we gather more information.”

Davis cannot be reached by ABC News.

The airport police spokesperson, Pedregon, stated, “You don’t talk about bombs at an airport and you don’t scream fire in a theater.” People are anxious when they fly as it is.”

There is an arrest for making a false bomb threat there about once every few months, according to Pedregon.
