The 49ers have suffered a great loss as one of their star players perished in a horrific car accident.
Following the 49ers’ defeat to the Baltimore Ravens in Super Bowl XLVII in New Orleans, the relatives of tight end Delanie Walker of the San Francisco 49ers, who died in an automobile accident on Monday just after 5:30 a.m. CT, were confirmed by Louisiana State Police on Wednesday.
After spending time with Walker and his family following the game, Alice, 42, and Bryan Young, 54, drove to a hotel in Baton Rouge, according to Walker’s agent Vincent Taylor. Taylor claimed that the Youngs’ car was struck from behind after they had pulled over on the side of the road.
The motorist that struck the Youngs’ vehicle was Houston resident Nechole Thomas, 26. According to the police report, she was driving on the right shoulder of I-10 west in St. Charles Parish at a fast speed when the collision happened.
Following the extinguishment of the flames in both cars, the Youngs were found inside and declared deceased.
Following his arrest, Thomas faced charges of DWI, reckless operation, and two counts of vehicular homicide. According to preliminary toxicology results, Thomas tested above the 0.08% legal blood alcohol limit, according to the authorities. There will be drug tests soon.
Thomas was accused of using the heel of her stiletto to cause damage to someone else’s car in December 2011, including multiple dents and shattering a TV monitor and DVD player within the vehicle. She was charged with a felony in St. Louis. In another case, her trial is set for April 15.
Walker shared photos of the Youngs on Instagram, where they can be seen wearing Mardi Gras-inspired beads and having fun during Super Bowl festivities. On Saturday, Walker was joined by the Youngs at 49ers practice.
“Im going to miss y’all but i know they are in a better place.” On his Twitter feed, Walker posted.
