Ben Wilson has been added back to the starting lineup against Stoke, replacing Brad Collins, as the Coventry City goalkeepers were switched. Ark Robins has provided an explanation for his decision.

Wilson began the new season as the man in the gloves after breaking the record with 22 clean sheets during the Sky Blues campaign of the previous one. However, Collins, a summer acquisition, took his place after he appeared in the first fifteen Championship games. In November, he made his league debut for the team against Stoke.

The former Barnsley goalkeeper ended his run of 17 straight league games when City kept their first clean sheet in 12 games over the weekend, ironically against the Potters.

When questioned about the reasoning behind the move and if his team’s lack of shutouts was the only factor, Robins replied, “No, it was just that I have two goalkeepers.”It’s not a number one and a number two, despite what everyone believes after looking at it. My two excellent goalkeepers occasionally just require a break.

“They need to step away from the firing line and take a moment to themselves because they are human.” To be fair, I experienced the same thing with Ben earlier in the season, and then Brad joined and had several games before I felt the same way.

“Ben came in and thankfully kept a clean sheet today. He was the clear-cutting star last season. In my opinion, he exuded confidence, trained exceptionally well, and performed admirably in the Cup matches against Oxford and Sheffield Wednesday.

“You don’t have to pick the same team; we have a squad,” he continued. It’s not possible for you. The only way to get a squad and make them into a cohesive unit is to provide them with opportunities. And I am now capable of doing that.
