Good news: A Premier League defender who is exactly what Daniel Farke needs has arrived at Leeds United, the team announced.
In the winter window, the promotion-chasing Whites bid farewell to two right-backs. Luke Ayling, a mainstay of the team, went on loan to Middlesbrough for six months. Djed Spence, a loanee, was abruptly returned to Tottenham, who quickly offloaded him to Genoa.
There was a lot of expectation that Spence would be a huge success with Leeds. His rampaging performances during his final Championship campaign with Nottingham Forest are, in fact, unforgettable.

However, Spence played just seven games for Leeds before being sent back to his parent club, Tottenham, due to apparent attitude issues and ongoing injuries.
The departures of Spence and Ayling significantly weakened the right-back position. Despite being a central midfielder by trade, Archie Gray has played in the position to an exceptionally high standard for the majority of the season.
Moreover, full-back Despite being right-footed, Sam Byram currently plays left-back most of the time in his career.
Leeds made it a goal to sign a new right-back during the winter transfer window, and they succeeded in loaning Burnley’s Connor Roberts before the deadline of 11 p.m. on Thursday.
Roberts is already pushing for a long-term move.
Roberts’ arrival on a six-month loan was announced by Leeds on their official website. There is no purchase obligation or option in the agreement.
But shortly after arriving in west Yorkshire, Roberts stated he was already planning a permanent relocation to Elland Road in an interview with Phil Hay of the Athletic.
“I’ll be trying my hardest to make a good impression both on and off the pitch because football is a funny game, and maybe in the future it can change from a straight loan,” Roberts stated.
Right now, all that needs to be done is show up and try to assist. Being a bit of a player for Burnley this season has left me a little let down.

With the astounding numbers underlying the £700 million decline in Premier League spending in January 2024–FFebruary 2024, Roberts will now have the opportunity to establish himself with Leeds and disprove Burnley and Vincent Kompany. He must, of course, also deal with the minor issue of Archie Gray.
In other news, Leeds also declared that Ian Poveda, a winger, had gone on loan to Sheffield Wednesday, a team in the Championship, for the balance of the 2023–2024 season.
