Unbelievably, former City head coach Brendan Rodgers announced his return to the group.

Brendan Rodgers was fired by Leicester City as head coach after the team suffered its fifth loss in six Premier League games.

After taking over in February 2019, Rodgers guided the team to its first FA Cup victory in 2021.

However, chairman Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha claimed in a statement that this season’s performances and outcomes have fallen “below our shared expectations.”

“We had felt that stability and continuity would be essential to changing our direction, especially considering our prior successes under Brendan’s leadership.

“Unfortunately, the expected progress has not materialized, and with ten games left in the season, the board feels obliged to take alternative measures in order to preserve our Premier League standing.

“We have a clear task for the next ten games. In order to maintain our status as a Premier League team, we must now unite as a team—fans, players, and staff—and exhibit the composure, talent, and will to fight for it,” he continued.

In his first two complete seasons as Foxes manager, Rodgers guided Leicester to consecutive fifth-place finishes. In 2021, he also defeated Chelsea to win the FA Cup.

However, his team’s 2022–2023 campaign started poorly, losing seven of their first ten Premier League games and plunging to the bottom of the standings before finishing the season with a run of four wins from five games before the World Cup break.

Since the season started again, they have not fared well, having only accumulated seven of the 33 points that were available.
