Total Shock: Green Bay Packers are in a total mess as two of their top committed players have departed unexpectedly announcing a new deal with…..

Brian Gutekunst, general manager of the Green Bay Packers, has an extremely intriguing summer ahead of him.

With the key position on the squad (quarterback) resolved, Gutekunst has a loaded 2024 NFL Draft roster that includes some of the best young players in the league from top to bottom. Almost every position group on this Packers roster will face tough choices; in fact, the team may decide to cut some of its first-year players after only one season.

While some of these choices may be viewed as incredibly rash, there are other circumstances in which trusting the “process” can ultimately backfire on you.

After just one season with the team, which young players might the Packers let go?

1. Carlson Anders
In retrospect, it’s difficult to believe that Anders Carlson managed to play all five of the 2023 season’s games without missing a kick. When Carlson missed his first kick of the season in Denver, a game that was ultimately decided by just two points, things in his debut season took a turn for the worst.

Over the remaining games of the regular season, Carlson would miss six field goals and five extra points, for a total of 11 failed kicks. His missed field goals against the Giants and Broncos may have been the difference between the Packers’ 9-8 record and their seventh-seeded postseason run, ending 11-6 overall.

However, nothing stings more than the kick he failed to make against the 49ers in the playoffs. In the end, that kick might be the one that makes the Packers decide to let go in the 2024 offseason. Carlson is known for having a large leg. I think he has a very bright career ahead of him. But how can you justify bringing a guy into the next season if you can’t trust him?

In the event that the Packers are able to locate a clear and appropriate replacement, the 2023 sixth-round pick will undoubtedly be traded this offseason.
