According to the Houston President, the MLB hit the Astros hard in order to preserve their integrity.

A $5 million maximum fine, forfeiture of future draft picks, and one-year suspensions for former general manager Jeff Luhnow and manager A.J. Hinch were among the penalties imposed. The Astros fired Hinch and Luhnow following the announcement of the fines.

It is unlikely that the Houston Astros signing will damage the bottom line.

David Samson, the former president of the Miami Marlins, told FOX Business’ Neil Cavuto on Tuesday that MLB had to take strong action against the Astros to safeguard their business and the money they receive from organizations like MGM.

“The integrity of the game is impacted by anything that could affect the outcomes on the field,” he declared. “This reminds me of gambling, but not as much, I think.”
