Good news! According to the NFL President, every NFL team should…
On Tuesday, head coach Kyle Shanahan made a general statement about his coaching staff in response to a question concerning defensive coordinator Steve Wilks’ prior performance and potential future employment with the San Francisco 49ers.
After giving a hazy initial response to a question about Wilks’ future, he said, “I haven’t talked to anybody yet.”. “So yeah, I expect all our coaches to be back.”
Wilks is probably included in that, though Shanahan refrained from disclosing specifics regarding any one assistant coach.
The 49ers’ defense played well for the majority of the game before giving up late in Super Bowl LVIII against the Kansas City Chiefs, 25-22. During regulation, the Chiefs managed to score just one touchdown, which resulted from a mishandled punt deep within San Francisco territory.
Considering that Dre Greenlaw suffered an Achilles tear in the middle of the game and that Aaron Hargrave and Erik Armstead were playing with injuries, it was even more remarkable.
Kyle Shanahan of the Niners explains why he chose to kick in overtime during the Super Bowl defeat: “We simply believed it would be preferable.”
Niners DL Arik Armstead says he will have surgery even though he played through the postseason with a torn meniscus.
Before the Super Bowl, Niners general manager John Lynch felt there was no need to talk to players about the new overtime regulations. This included Brandon Aiyuk. “You want a guy like him in the future.”
The Chiefs defeat the 49ers in overtime, and Kyle Shanahan suffers yet another heartbreaking Super Bowl loss.
Niners LB Dre Greenlaw thought he had torn his Achilles during the Super Bowl LVIII defeat.
However, the 49ers’ defense was unable to stop eventual Super Bowl MVP Patrick Mahomes from doing enough—a few times with his legs—to lead them to victory late on the last possession of regulation and the first series of overtime.
In light of Mahomes’ two crucial late conversions, Nick Bosa told reporters on Tuesday that he felt the 49ers “could’ve been more prepared” for him as a runner in the read-option game.
