Don deal; the houston have completed their trade for signing a vital player that they ever wanted

The Houston Texans proved to many that they are ahead of the curve in terms of rebuilding with their outstanding 2023 campaign. They still have the majority of their youthful core, their coach, and their quarterback. They will try to further bolster their roster during the 2024 offseason because they are in a great position. They intend to acquire a team strong enough to advance to the AFC Championship through trades, free agents, and the NFL Draft.

The only issue is that in 2024, they will not have their own first-round selection. In the NFL Draft of 2024, the Texans will not be selecting a pick in the first round. However, why? As you may recall, the Texans held the second overall pick in the NFL Draft of 2023. Their selection resulted from Lovie Smith’s victory in their final game of the season, which caused them to fall from first to second in the draft order—just behind the Chicago Bears.

Following their trade with the Bears, the Panthers selected quarterback Bryce Young. Then C.J. Stroud was chosen by the Texans. The Texans were ultimately the ones who persuaded the Arizona Cardinals to pay attention to the calls they were receiving for the third-place team. Will Anderson Jr. was a highly sought-after prospect, and the Texans struck a deal with the Cardinals to acquire that pick.

The Cardinals received the 12th overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft (from the Cleveland Browns trade for Deshaun Watson), a second-round pick in 2023, and a first-round pick in 2024 in exchange for the third overall pick. The Houston Texans’ selection from this year was, in fact, that first-round pick.

But that doesn’t mean the Cardinals selected the lone first-round pick held by the Texans. The Texans still possess the Browns’ 2024 first-round selection, which implies they still have a chance to select a valuable player in the opening round.
