Unbelievably, Philip Clément announced his return to the coaching apartment after being confirmed as the team manager.

In addition to being a successful player for Genk and Club Brugge, he was also capped 38 times by Belgium, participating in every World Cup game and being a member of the team that qualified for Euro 2000.

Clement played for Coventry City for a while, so he also has experience with British football.

Since transitioning into management, he has amassed significant accolades, including three consecutive Belgian Pro League titles—first with Genk and then twice with Club Brugge between 2019 and 2021.

He spent several years with Club Brugge in the Champions League Group Stage, including two campaigns in which his team advanced to the Europa League knockout stages.

There was a spell with Monaco after that. In his first season in charge, he guided the Ligue 1 team, which was ranked ninth in the league, to a top-three finish.

Now, assuming he gets a work permit, Clement travels to Glasgow to start a three-and-a-half-year tenure as Rangers FC’s 19th manager.

“I am honored to have been appointed as the new manager of Rangers Football Club, and I’d like to thank the board for giving me this opportunity,” Clement said in a statement following his appointment.

I am ecstatic about the opportunity to succeed in four competitions at one of the most storied clubs in Europe for the remainder of this season and beyond.
“As we work together to build a successful, winning Rangers, I am looking forward to meeting with the players in the coming days and to seeing our supporters at our home game against Hibernian on Saturday.”

John Bennett, chairman of the Rangers, said: “I’d like to congratulate Philippe on becoming our 19th manager.

His appointment is the result of a thorough and well-thought-out hiring procedure. Over the past ten days, a group headed by our CEO James Bisgrove, board members, and former Rangers player and manager Graeme Souness has been interviewing a number of exceptional candidates, putting them through a thorough screening and interview process. We appreciate each and every applicant’s interest in the job.
