The Bears have finally reached agreement to sign this monstrous free agent on a monster deal.
This offseason, the Chicago Bears plan to let go of a large number of their depth free agents. The majority of them failed to make an impact or will be searching for other opportunities to play. Equaimeous St. Brown will be an intriguing name.
Could Equanimeous St. Brown be signed by the Chicago Bears again in free agency this offseason?
Initially, the idea is that he will enter with free will. He was primarily signed by the Bears because of his familiarity with Luke Getsy’s offense from their time together with the Green Bay Packers. Men who came for similar reasons, like Marcedes Lewis, Lucas Patrick, and Robert Tonyan, will also be gone.
Still, there’s a good reason to believe that St. Brown has the best chance of rejoining the group. First off, 2022 was one of his best statistical seasons to date, despite the fact that he was not a major producer. Over the last two years, he has played more than he did in the four years prior combined. There is a limit to how much the Bears can add at wide receiver. Now that he is familiar with the Matt Eberflus culture, St. Brown—a blocker who performs the grunt work that many receivers won’t—becomes a valuable member of the team.
He obviously adds unique value to the team as well. The Bears’ wide receiver depth chart features Tyler Scott, Velus Jones, and D.J. Moore. St. Brown would be the second most trusted receiver because the team trusted him over Scott and Jones just the previous season. He would compete for a roster spot, fifth or sixth, which is probably where he should have been his entire Bears career, even if they add three bigger names in free agency.
