The Belgian has committed to a three-and-a-half-year deal. With Rangers trailing Celtic by seven points at the top of the Scottish Premiership, Michael Beale was fired earlier this month.
“It is a privilege to be named the new Rangers manager. In a statement released by the club, Clement stated, “I am incredibly thrilled about the opportunity to succeed at one of the most illustrious clubs in Europe in four tournaments for the balance of this season and beyond.
Between 2018 and 2024, James Tavernier led Genk and Club to three straight Belgian titles. The 49-year-old then spent a stint at Monaco from January 2022 until June of this year, but he left the team after one play ended with him placing just sixth.
His first priority upon arriving in Glasgow is to loosen Celtic’s grip on the Scottish League. The Hoops have amassed a sizable lead after just eight games of the current season and have won 11 of the previous 12 Scottish Premiership championships.
Rangers, however, still have a chance to advance in the Europa League even after suffering a humiliating 2-1 loss to Limassol in Cyprus earlier this month.
James will have the opportunity to win silverware soon because his new team will play Hearts in the League Cup semi-final the following month. Rangers have a great advantage over Celtic, the current holders, in winning the title.
John Bennett, the club chairman, verified that Graeme, the former manager of Rangers, was among the recruiters who conducted interviews with potential applicants.
He continued: “Philippe proved to be the outstanding candidate across all the key criteria, reinforced by his track record of winning titles, and I wish him every success as he leads us forward.”
