The top player on the Indianapolis Colts, who signed a new contract, is fully back
WFIE – INDIANAPOLIS, IN Dwight Freeney, a former defensive end for the Indianapolis Colts, was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2024, the NFL announced tonight. This August, the Class of 2024 will be formally inducted into Canton, Ohio.
With his signature spin move, Dwight developed into one of the most feared pass rushers in the league, according to Jim Irsay, owner and CEO of the Colts. As one of the all-time greats in professional football, he gave Colts fans a lot of exciting moments, and he really deserves this award.
Joining Art Donovan (1968) and Gino Marchetti (1972) as the Colts defensive linemen to be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame is Freeney. Originally chosen out of Syracuse, Freeney was taken by Indianapolis in the first round (11th overall) of the 2002 NFL Draft. He participated in the Colts’ Super Bowl XLI triumph and was honored with a 2019 Ring of Honor induction by the franchise. 2018 saw Freeney’s retirement from the NFL while still a member of Indianapolis.
With the Colts (2002–2012), San Diego Chargers (2013–14), Arizona Cardinals (2015), Atlanta Falcons (2016), Seattle Seahawks (2017), and Detroit Lions (2017), Freeney participated in 218 career games (157 starts) over 16 NFL seasons.
