The Juventus manager has established new guidelines that the players and fans will not break, which could be good news.
The former midfield player assumed the club’s top position despite only being named manager of Juventus’ under-23 team at the end of July. His contract is set for two years, ending in June 2022.
Before moving to New York City in 2015, Pirlo played for Juventus in four of his five major championships, including four Serie A titles. He played for Italy in the World Cup that year.
According to reports, Pirlo was selected by Andrea Agnelli, the president of Juventus, with whom he had a close working relationship while playing for the team.
Even though he has no prior managerial experience, the news is announced. Prior to the announcement of Pirlo’s impending appointment, Mauricio Pochettino, the former manager of Tottenham, was the front-runner for the position.
According to a statement from Juventus, “Today’s choice is based on the belief that Pirlo has what it takes to lead, from his debut on the bench to an expert and talented squad to pursue new successes.”
The 61-year-old former Chelsea manager had guided Juventus to the Serie A championship in his first season in charge, but Friday night’s Champions League away goals defeat to Lyon proved to be the last straw.
