Sad news: At just 27, the player announces his retirement from Rangers after the £2.5 million deal fell through
org Kean Bryan, a defender for Manchester City and West Brom, has announced his retirement, coming five years after Scottish Premiership powerhouse Rangers pulled out the news. At just 27, the player announces his retirement from Rangers after the £2.5 million deal fell throught of a potentially £2.5 million deal.
Rangers’ interest in the gifted young center-half was much more than just idle talk, as Steven Gerrard himself admitted.
Former England youth international Kean Bryan made an impression while on loan at Oldham Athletic in 2017–18, and the two had discussed a move to Ibrox. The Scottish Sun claims that Rangers even extended an offer to him for a three-year deal worth up to £2.5 million.
The breakdown of those talks disappointed Gerrard, and Bryan ultimately joined Sheffield United later in the transfer window.

The Rangers were not able to sign Kean Bryan.
“Sadly, we were unable to reach a consensus with Kean,” the Rangers manager at the time stated to BT Sport. We respect his desire to maintain his options open.
It is evident that we are lacking a center-back, so we are actively seeking to strengthen that position. I hope it happens soon instead of later.
It was Joe Worrall for the Gers. The former Ibrox loanee is currently competing for Nottingham Forest in the Premier League below the border.
