Isaiah Rodgers, a former defensive back for the Indianapolis Colts, was signed by the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday. He cannot, however, play this season due to his prior suspension for violating the NFL’s gambling policy. After the 2023 campaign, Rodgers is eligible to apply for reinstatement.

After breaking the NFL’s gambling policy on June 29, Rodgers was suspended for at least the 2023 season and was soon released by the Colts. According to people with knowledge of the activity on Rodgers’s sportsbook account on the internet, more than 100 bets were made, at least one of which was on a Colts game, ESPN reported.

According to a source who spoke with ESPN, Rodgers’ friends in Florida pushed him to make a lot of the bets, most of which were between $25 and $50. During the most recent football season, legal sports betting was not accessible in Florida. A $1,000 prop bet on the over/under rushing yards for a Colts running back was one of Rodgers’ wagers.

Rodgers will not play for the Eagles for the upcoming season and will not be compensated after they placed him on the reserve/suspended list.He is not eligible for the 53-man roster and will not count against the Eagles’ adjusted 2023 salary cap of roughly $234.7 million.
