SEALED; Green Bay Packers have just completed another major big monster Deal.
Three players have signed reserve/futures contracts with the Green Bay Packers for the 2024 season: inside linebacker Christian Young, outside linebacker Deandre Johnson, and outside linebacker Deslin Alexandre. This information was reported by ESPN’s Rob Demovsky. Reserve/futures contracts are short-term agreements usually reserved for players on the practice squad who are currently or have been, and they don’t count against the salary cap or roster count until the start of the following league year.
On Monday, Johnson and Alexandre were brought in for workouts. It was anticipated that the two pass rushers might have helped the Packers with their post-Kingsley Enagbare rotation during the playoffs, but it looks like we won’t be able to watch live snaps from either of them until the summer.
Young is a hybrid inside linebacker/safety who was traded by the Seattle Seahawks to the Green Bay Packers. The hybrid defender has experience in defensive coordinator Joe Barry’s scheme because he spent some time this season on the Packers practice squad. Now, the question that remains very much unanswered is whether Barry will return the following year.
In any case, the Packers also worked out two stars from the CFL last week, so more reserve/futures deals might be forthcoming. The young players on the practice squad should sign a flurry of reserve/futures contracts once the team’s playoff run concludes.
